I always stop here on my way to Mammoth or Tahoe- it's a must! They have a variety of breads and cheeze breads to choose from. I will usually buy an original cheeze bread, jalapeño cheeze bread, cinnamon raisin bread, & a couple different focaccia options. The breads & the sandwich counter are on the left side & the sweets/ baked goods are on the right side when you walk in. The sandwiches are big enough to share if you get a whole- I usually order a half. I ordered a half egg salad this time. The weekends are always busy, so expect a line when ordering a sandwich. They have tables outside to eat at & and indoor area to eat next door. Parking- parking lot
We have made this a regular lunch stop on our way to and from to Mammoth Mountain every winter on our regular ski trip. Honestly, we only ordered the hot pastrami sandwich with a side of sauerkraut and pickle as that is a favorite of ours. We also pick up some of their homemade spreads and breads as well as jams and jerky. However, everything we've ever purchased has been delicious. Shats'sBakery has everything from sandwiches to pastries to chees and many breads to choose from. It is always very crowded and you have to wait in line for several minutes. However they are very proficient. I noticed they purchased the building next door so now there is an area you can sit indoors to eat rather than sit outdoors in the cold if you are traveling on the winter. We enjoy the shop and the employees are always friendly. Give it a try if you make your way through Bishop, CA!
I love this bakkery! Most weekends this place is jam packed but they offer free samples of their most popular bread as you stroll down every aisle! The bakkery is split in two sections, savory and sweet. They have Sheepherders' bread, bagels, cheese, pastries, ice cream and candy. The perfect spot to stop during a road trip. The deli sandwiches are pilled high with fresh deli meat, veggies, and spicy mustard all on the infamous bread. I got the pastrami and it came with a side of sauerkraut, a pickle, and a chocolate chip cookie! What a sweet surprise! The pastries range from doughnuts, croissants, fruit tarts, whole cakes, chocolates, danishes, cookies, macaroons, and really every pastry you can think of is probably sold here and baked fresh daily!
A must stop spot on our way to the mountains for breakfast of delightful pastries and fresh bread to have on our vacation. The croissants were light, fluffy and buttery while packed with fillings. The ham and cheese was so good, but the real star was the chocolate croissant that was packed with chocolate. We also picked up a loaf of garlic cheese bread that was pack with garlic chunks and cheese inside and out! We stopped by on our way back home and were able to pick up a small sourdough round and Asiago cheese loaf. The sourdough round may be small but oh my goodness it was one of the best loaves I've ever had! I regret not buying more, but I plan to come back anytime we make the drive to the area
We look forward to this bakery every time we drive to and from Mammoth Lakes. Their sandwiches and pot pies are soooo worth the drive. Their bread and pastries are also delicious--they have a huge selection of sweet treats and sourdoughs. It can get crowded on the weekends, so if you're in a group, would recommend splitting up to get the breads, hot foods, and sweets/coffee sections.
